Hotel The Roosevelt proud host during the Four Freedoms Awards 2026

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, Middelburg will be entirely dedicated to freedom, human rights, and international solidarity during the Four Freedoms Awards ceremony. Hotel The Roosevelt is proud to host a large number of prominent and international guests for this special occasion.

The Four Freedoms Awards are presented to individuals and organizations actively committed to promoting fundamental human freedoms. The awards are based on Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous 1941 speech, in which he spoke of freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Since 1982, the ceremony has alternated between Middelburg and New York, reflecting the Roosevelt family's roots in Zeeland.

The 2026 ceremony will take place in the Nieuwe Kerk in Middelburg and promises to be an exceptional award ceremony. Among the laureates will be Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Hotel The Roosevelt is honored to serve as a fully booked hotel, accommodating the many well-known and influential guests in the city this week.

In conjunction with the awards ceremony, the Vrijheidscolleges Foundation is also organizing the Four Freedoms Meet-up, a special program for young people. During this meeting, they will have the unique opportunity to engage in conversation with the laureates and ask questions about freedom, leadership, and social responsibility.

The Four Freedoms Awards will also receive extra attention in a special episode of WNL, in which the event and its significance will be discussed in detail.

Hotel The Roosevelt is proud to play a role in this international event and to contribute to a week in which Middelburg symbolizes freedom, courage, and solidarity worldwide.
